The Mathematics Curriculum
KS4
The course meets the requirements of the National Curriculum Orders for Key Stage 4 Mathematics and covers four areas.
Year 11 - September 2010:
Pupils at the Foundation and Higher tier follow the Edexcel Syllabus B (2381). This course allows students to gain either a grade A*, A, B, C, D or E at the Higher tier and a grade C, D, E, F or G at the Foundation tier.
It is assessed by means of two modular examinations (50%) and two final examinations (50%) at the end of Year 11.
Year 11 - September 2011:
Pupils at the Foundation and Higher tier follow the revised Edexcel Syllabus B. This course allows students to gain either a grade A*, A, B, C, D or E at the Higher tier and a grade C, D, E, F or G at the Foundation tier.
It is assessed by means of two modular examinations (30% each and non-calculator) and one final examination (40%) at the end of Year 11.
KS3
Pupils follow a scheme of work based on four areas of Mathematics in line with the requirements of the National Curriculum, covering the following strands:-
- Using and Applying Mathematics
- Number and Algebra
- Shape, Space and Measures
- Handling Data
