Subject Philosophy

The aim of this course is to provide learners with a basic introduction to the early years sector, through the completion of a vocational qualification.  Theoretical lessons will be accompanied by practical lessons which aim to provide learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills of how children develop and how we can care for them effectively.

There are two components to the course:

Development 0 -5 years – Learners will develop their ability to understand child development and examine a range of factors that can interrupt the normal development of the growing child.

Working with children 0-5 years – Learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of their roles and responsibilities when working in an early years setting.  They will learn about the differences between children and consider how to ensure all children are treated equally.
