Music Curriculum

Key Stage 3

The Key Stage 3 curriculum has been designed to introduce students to a variety of music.  It covers basic skills such as listening to music, singing, creating music and playing the keyboard.  This is designed to give pupils an experience of and the ability to understand a wide variety of music whilst also preparing them for KS4 music.

Key Stage 4

At Key Stage 4 pupils follow the BTEC Music course: https://qualifications.pearson.com/en/qualifications/btec-firsts/music-2013-nqf.html

The course allows pupils to develop their performing skills using the instrument of their choice (or voice).  They will develop their composing skills by creating their own music.  Pupils will learn about jobs within the music industry and how these jobs interact.  They will use this information to manage a music product from planning to delivery and creation.
